Today, March 13, we had a very special Pack meeting. The first of our cubs earned their rank advancement and it was time to say goodbye to our lone Webelos scout.
Andrew Laird, 5th grader at Shades Cahaba Elementary, earned his Arrow of Light and received it during the ceremony. Andrew’s den had become smaller over the years and this past year or two has seen his den dwindle to just him. In spite of all this he stayed on track and earned his Arrow of Light. After receiving it, he crossed a ceremonial bridge and was accepted by scouts and leaders from Troop 97 where he will be a Boy Scout. We will miss Andrew and we wish him well. Andrew is shown in the picture with his father and den leader, Andy Laird.
Awards were presented to other scouts as well. One of the Bears earned his Bear award while all six Tigers earned their Tiger award. Belt loops and pins were distributed to others. More and more cubs should be earning their awards in the next month to two.
Next up, spring campout and then our May “moving up” ceremony where the boys get their new handbooks and neckerchiefs.
